Plastic Surgery Thailand Costs
Costs in Thailand are about one third to one half of what procedures cost in Australia.
Many companies advertise with statements such as save up to 60%, 65%, 70% but realistically the cost is about one third at a Tier 1 hospital, with a leading surgeon and additional to surgery costs there are flights, hotels, etc which results in you paying a total cost of about half of Australian costs for major surgery.
The saving is similar for the cost of dental surgery too.
It is surprising that some prospective patients’ first question is how much and others are simply looking for the cheapest available.
As we all should know cost is not everything and this is particularly the case with Thailand Plastic Surgery. Not all surgeons and medical offers in Thailand are the same.
Some hospitals /clinics are known for surprise costs.
‘Oh you want pain killers? That will be an extra cost of…. ‘
Whilst paying extra for pain killers is an exaggeration there are frequently stories from patients that have gone to clinics and hospitals only to find extra costs are added once they are there. Not a nice feeling or good start to your medical experience.
A breast augmentation in Thailand costs about $3500.
It is possible to find clinics in Thailand that attempt the same operation and charge around $2850. But are such offers from a place that you can truly trust and rely on?
Frankly places charging such prices are likely to be the ones you read about on the news! The places that I would not send my family to.
Be quite sure what you are getting.
For example some hospitals offer face lift package and some offer Mini face lift and both are not the same in procedure or cost. This difference has confused many patients.
We recently compared a face lift from one leading surgeon and also an offer from another hospital. One hospital was about $4333 and the leading surgeon was about $7000.
So why the difference?
Both face lift operations were not the same. The leading surgeon did more than the other hospital offered. For example the leading surgeon included liposuction to properly contour the chin and neck, as well as repairing and severing the muscles, in order for the better shape of the neck and face. In the more expensive offer the surgeon also included a neck lift as part of the same procedure. Something the leading surgeon states is usually necessary for women wanting the best result.
The second hospital did not include neck work and is known for charging more if there is ‘a little bit more ‘ to be done eg: under chin liposuction.
As the leading surgeon said
“For patients who only judge by the price then I cannot help to feel he or she has been misinformed about what they are getting.
The leading surgeon had significant more experience and had spent many years studying and learning the procedure and how to do it correctly according to American Standards. The second hospital was using a less experienced surgeon.
The leading surgeon concluded by saying “If the patient feels that other places can do a good job for the same price then they should go ahead with the other place and may God help them. “
Do not take anything of ‘lesser quality’ because in the long run you may end up paying a lot, lot more.
Using a knowledgeable medical tourism company can ensure there are no ‘surprise costs’ and your surgeon offers appropriate surgery.
